Second time I went to London was to meet up with a friend from Sheffield. Since I have been on internship for the past year, I didn't get to meet up with my friends much so we thought we'd meet up in London.
We decided to do a market marathon for the day. Well maybe more like a half marathon because we couldn't visit that many markets in a day. We first went to Covent Garden market, but not for long as we just went around quickly and I bought a burger from Shake Shack. Next we went to Camden Market. Camden Market is quite quirky, people sell things that you wouldn't normally find in the high street stores, from emo accessories, vintage bits and bobs, to Indian incense. There is also lots of food stalls which will make you drool with the smell. Thai, Mexican, massive donuts, massive pizza, you name it. The place is pretty big too, there is a lot to explore but somehow it is always crowded. So I suggest you don't go on a weekend if you don't want to get (too) stuck in between people.
Next we went to Leadenhall Market, but because it was a bank holiday (I think, I can't really remember), the shops were closed. Leadenhall Market has quite a pretty architecture, we came there just to take pictures really rather than for the shops. It was also used to film some of the Diagon Alley scenes in Harry Potter. Even though the shops were closed, there were still a few people (read: tourists) there, doing the same thing as us, taking pictures.
The last market we went to was Portobello Market. It turned out that this was just like any other market that sells, well, markety stuff. So it was not really that interesting (for us anyway), but I guess the place was quite pretty with its colourful houses. It is located near Nottinghill where there are lots of colourful houses I have yet to visit! Afterwards we decided to go to Oxford Street since we had a bit of time to kill.
To be continued in London Lovin' (3)...
